Bistro by Mastercard is a new experience for international travelers on the Italian Food Street of the boarding area E of the Leonardo da Vinci airport (Rome). Passengers are surprised by a combination of Italian culinary quality and cutting-edge technologies. It is the first cashless restaurant designed to offer a food experience in the name of the Italian culinary tradition with particular attention to the Roman one and, at the same time, to experiment with the most innovative technologies that will revolutionize the experience of Italian and international travelers.
Waiting for the flight is transformed into a unique experience, thanks to the self ordering and cashless fast payment services. The interactive Priceless Touch Table is a solution designed to transform the experience of waiting for the next boarding not only faster, thanks to the contactless payment technology directly integrated into the table, but also more fun, thanks to the interactive screen available of diners. Browsing through the multiple contents of the table, the guest can thus order the dishes on the interactive menu, learn more about the chef’s philosophy by learning all his secrets and have real-time updates on his flight, the boarding gate, the weather of the destination city. At the end of the meal, guests can finally pay the bill directly at the table, avoiding unnecessary lines at the cash desk. This kind of restaurants will be located within the major airports of the Priceless City.
The interactive table was developed in collaboration with 101 percent and BWave. The table has been entirely developed in Unity3D, with the integration of external services like the contactless payment and the download of remote information about menu and Mastercard Priceless experiences.
This project is heavily related on dynamic graphic interface: Menu entries, photos, and Priceless experiences images, locations around the world along with their descriptions are updated every time the table is turned on, and the dynamic UI adapts to the amount of content to show. Real-time information on the flight status, gate, and weather at the traveler’s destination are also provided.
Great attention was given to the study of the user experience for ordering lunch and payment execution. 4 people can simultaneously order, and at the time of payment you can pay for yourself or pay for other people.
