Virtual Living Room it's a project to experience the Unreal Engine potential in the field of photo-realistic rendering. To achieve the highest quality, we are focusing on the study of Light mapping techniques, the production of physically based materials, and lowpoly modeling.

As you can see in the following breakdown grid image, the unlit scene is very poor. The use of Normal maps along with the creation of UV sets specifically studied for lightmapping allows Ureal to add a "Detail Lighting" layer to the scene which adds a lot to the final realism:
